Don Aers and Stuart Hopkins appointed PASMA Directors

PASMA’s technical manager, Don Aers, and training scheme manager, Stuart Hopkins, have both been appointed directors of the Association with effect from 1 January 2012. They become technical director and director of training respectively.
Don Aers joined the Association in January 2010 from the Youngman Group. After graduating in engineering from Brunel University, Aers worked for Pye, BOC and Alcatel in various design and development roles, including a spell as chief
design engineer with Cinevision Services in London and Tokyo. He joined the Youngman Group as technical manager in 1995.
He is a well-known figure in the access industry. As well as being a member of the BSI B514 (access and support equipment), B514/24 (mobile access tower) and B514/41 (fixings) committees, he sits as a UK representative on CEN technical committee TC53 (temporary works equipment) and TC53 working group 4 (mobile towers).
He is also a past chairman of the Ladder Association, a member of the BSI B512 Ladder Standards Committee and sits as a UK representative on CEN TC93, the European Ladder Standards Committee.
PASMA’s new director of training joined the Association in 2008 from HSS where he was group senior trainer having previously held various positions including branch manager, area manager and national training manager.
He holds the certificate in training practice from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, the RoSPA safety instructor’s certificate and was chairman of the IPAF training committee 2004-2005.
Comments chairman of the Access Industry Forum (AIF) and PASMA’s managing director, Peter Bennett: “Both Don and Stuart are well known and respected throughout the industry and are two of the most experienced people in the access and work at height sectors.”
“Their advancement recognises their respective contributions to the Association and provides the necessary platform for them to support the work of the various committees, liaise with the relevant regulatory bodies and provide advice and guidance to PASMA’s 300 plus members in the UK and Ireland.”
Don looks after the PASMA Technical and Hire & Assembly Committees and Stuart is responsible for the PASMA Training Committee.

Kentec Training Reviews

Here at Kentec Training, we are constantly looking for new ways to reach our customers and improve our services. We are currently in the process of building a new page for our website listing of some of our reviews written by our customers who have previously attended courses at our training centre. We encourage all customers to review our performance and have started logging details to ensure that we are learning and improving all the time.

I have found some of my favourite reviews from the past few months that I would like to share with you:

'James Carter was really well organised and very easy to talk to and understand.' Alan Stanley - IPAF 02/06/2011

'I found this course well thought out and very informative. James Carter has a good way of informing us of the latest regulations. Thank you very much.'  Peter Woodford - PASMA 26/08/2011

'Intensive Training covering all aspects of MEWPs. Thoroughly enjoyed day. Thank you Kentec.' Mark Reynolds - IPAF 02/06/2011

'Fantastic Facilities, excellent instructors and demonstrations. Don't think you could make the course any easier or more understandable. Great Day. Thanks.' Peter Foster - IPAF 09/06/2011

Please feel free to write a review on Qype or Google Reviews,

Kentec Training's new trailer for onsite Courses

We are now able to offer full PASMA Tower for Users on site training utilising both 3T (Through The Trap) and AGR (Advanced Guard Rail) assembly methods.

This is in response to continuing difficulty and requests from our clients who require this course to be held at their sites or offices, in providing a suitable tower that is not only in an acceptable condition but also has the full complement of componants, including the Advanced Guard Rails.

Within the Trailer Unit we have a full 4.2m Platform Single Width Alloy Tower (to BS EN 1004) with sufficent componants to instructor both 3T and AGR approved assembly methods. We provide this aditional equipment at no additional charge but must insist on secure parking at the site near to the training room.

The requirement for the AGR assembly method to be fully incorporated within ALL PASMA Tower Training Course has been a requirement for some time now, however, some PASMA training providers have not when training on sites due to the difficulty in obtaining the correct equipment. To ensure that you receive the full PASMA Tower for Users Course call us on 0333-666-0555 or email: info@kentectraining.co.uk

Kentec Training's all weather practical area

Make sure when booking your courses this coming winter that you have a suitable practical area to build your tower or operate a MEWP. In many cases, especially when we have been asked to do an onsite course during the autumn and winter months we have been unable to complete the practical assessment stage as there is not a sufficient space to build or operate equipment safely. Additionally, many training centres still do their practical assessments in a designated area outside. This opens up the chance of the course being affected by the Great British Elements! Rain, high wind or snow can cause the practical area to be shut down, having to return to the centre another day to complete the course, costing both your resources and time.

At Kentec Training, we have an all weather practical area, with climate control and separate refreshment facilities and recreation room with a 42" flat screen TV to keep our delegates occupied when waiting for their team to participate in the practical exercises. For more information, or to book on one of our courses visit www.kentectraining.co.uk or e-mail info@kentectraining.co.uk. Alternatively, call 0333 666 0555 and a training consultant will be happy to assist you.
