You’ll find a practical programme, full of step- by-step guidance, and with a sharp business focus. But you’ll also find that the highly innovative format and content engages and inspires delegates – critical to getting essential health and safety messages across. As an IOSH accredited training provider, Kentec Training are able to provide IOSH Managing Safely at our training centre in Tonbridge or at your work place subject to condition subject to conditions and available facilities.
The aim of our IOSH Managing Safely Course is to instruct and assess each person to develop the legal, moral and social duties of sector supervisors, managers, directors and business owners by giving guidance on how to control their workforce in accordance with current Health & Safety and best practice.

The IOSH Managing Safely Course is a theory based with exercises and assessments including; training room lectures, video/DVD presentations, written and practical assignments.

1. Introducing Managing Safely: Some managers may see health and safety as an add-on to their role – even an intrusion. The first module makes it clear that managers are accountable for their teams, and makes a persuasive case for managing safely.

2. Assessing Risks: This module defines and demystifies ‘risk’ and ‘risk assessment’. Risk assessments and a simple scoring system are introduced, and delegates carry out Publish Posta series of assessments.

3. Controlling Risks: Here the session tackles cutting risks down, concentrating on the best techniques to control key risks, and how to choose the right method.

4. Understanding Your Responsibilities: This module looks at the demands of the law and how the legal system works, and introduces a health and safety management system.

5. Identifying Hazards: All the main issues any operation has to deal with are covered in this module – entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise, housekeeping and the working environment, slips, trips and falls, working at height, computers and manual handling.

6. Investigating Accidents and Incidents: The session starts with why accidents should be investigated, and goes on to cover why things go wrong, and how to carry out an investigation when they do.

7. Measuring Performance: This module explains how checking performance can help to improve health and safety. Delegates learn how to develop basic performance indicators, and get to grips with auditing and proactive and reactive measuring.

8. Protecting Our Environment: A short but effective introduction to waste and pollution leads into a look at how organisations and individual managers can get involved in cutting down environmental impacts.

The IOSH Managing Safely Course runs over 4 days, beginning at 9am and finishing at 4pm on each day. However, if you require the training to be delivered in an alternative time period, we will endeavour to accommodate your needs wherever possible. The IOSH Managing Safely Course does not have an expiry date, however IOSH recommend that candidates undergo a refresher course every 5 years.

PASMA Retraining

If you received a PASMA, IPAF or Ladder Association Certification in 2006 or before and are still working at height, you need to attend another course to become re-certified for another 5 years. We encourage this especially as courses such as the PASMA Standard Tower for Users Course has introduced new measures and practical training elements that were not included within the course syllabus previously. The 3T and AGR systems are currently the only tower assembly systems approved by PASMA and the HSE. With the introduction of the new design of AGR and its ease of use, we believe that this system will become the preferred method in months to come. With this in mind, it is vital that operatives have sound training in the application of both the approved methods.

Kentec training is now offering our customers a £10.00 discount opportunity to retrain with us on your necessary course. If you have individuals or a small number of delegates that require training, this is a great way of saving money. We understand that the economic climate is making things hard for small businesses and organisations, so to make your training as cost effective as possible, we are also offering discount to any additional delegates that may not have trained with us previously when booking a retraining course at our Training Centre in Tonbridge, Kent. For more information, please call 0333 666 0555.

Please note: These vouchers are not valid with our group discounts or any other offer from Kentec Training Ltd.

Kentec Training has joined the AoFA

Kentec Training is always looking for ways to improve our understanding and gain further knowledge in the subjects we train. As well as educating others in the different subjects we train, we encourage all our employees and instructors to continue their own education in these subjects as well. As we have recently began offering First Aid Training, we thought it was appropriate for us to explore all aspects of this training course. As a result we have joined the Association of First Aiders. The AoFA is the UK’s largest association supporting over 2,000 first aiders, first aid trainers and first aid training providers.

If you require First Aid Training, we can offer both the First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid Courses.

This is a one day course, which, prior to 2009, was the qualification taken by those designated as an 'Appointed Person for First Aid' in an organisation. The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

First Aid at Work Courses
This three day course enables successful candidates to be designated as a First Aider at their workplace. It also gives a thorough grounding in all the major areas of First Aid. The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

The content for both the courses will be tailored to the needs of the workplace(s) involved but will always cover:first aid bum bag
